Sakhu Milk Co-operative Society established in year Y2K(2000) collects milk from villages - Sakhu, Lower Sakhu, Khani, Fakli etc. Milk collected in the village is sent everyday to Gangtok for processing.

ABOUT SAKHU NEWS

Sakhu News dot blogspot dot com is created with an intention to provide the information about Sakhu and its people to those who are emotionally attached to this tiny village "Sakhu" which lies in the West part of Pendam.The beautiful Sakhu lies in the East District of Sikkim under Rateypani Constituency(now West Pendam). The climatic condition is queit moderate during summer but its chilly during winter time.Agriculture is the prime occupation of majority of people.The village is physically connected to Rangpo and Singtam. It is around 12 km far from Singtam and one can easily access the vehicle from Singtam and Rangpo Bazar with the taxi fare of Rs. 20 and Rs. 25 respectively. With the intention of making Sakhu and its people educated, the primary school named as Sakhu Primary School was established with the help of Government of Sikkim in the year 1970. Sakhu also consists of a private school named Eternal English Schoool which is located very near to Sakhu Primary School. Actually, Eternal English School was earlier named as Camellia English School(established in 1994 with the effort of local people, headed by Mr. Joshep, Rai; the then Principal of the school).
The ups and downs of Sakhu is looked upon by the club named "AMAR JYOTI CLUB", a registered club with Neheru Yuva Kendra(NYK), Gangtok. There are many Self Help Groups,Farmers Club & Women's Co-operative society.It has its own Physical Health Sub Center(PHSC),Sikkim Milk Union and ICDS(Integrated Child Development Scheme) center.
